Delhi-Panipat Rapid Rail Gets Haryana Cabinet's Nod: All You Need To Know

Delhi-Panipat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS): The Haryana government approved the Delhi-Panipat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor on Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020, according to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). The Haryana government also approved a gross contribution of Rs 4,699 crore as the state's share towards the project cost. The Delhi-Panipat RRTS is one of three corridors, prioritized for implementation in the country's first regional rapid transit network coming up in the national capital region (NCR). The National Capital Region Transport Corporation is a state-owned special purpose vehicle and responsible for executing the RRTS project across the national capital region. The 103 km long Delhi-Sonipat-Panipat corridor will have 17 stations, out of which six stations will be in Delhi, and 11 stations will be in Haryana. The construction and commissioning of the Delhi-Panipat regional rapid rail corridor will be undertaken in two stages. The first stage will be from a 58 km long route from Sarai Kale Khan to Murthal and the second one being a 44 km long route from Murthal to Panipat. The stations will be situated at key locations such as Kundli, RGEC, Gannaur, and Samalkha, contributing to seamless travel across the Delhi-Sonipat-Panipat region. According to NCRTC, the Delhi-Sonipat-Panipat rapid rail corridor is expected to reduce the travel time between Delhi and Panipat to just 65 minutes. Once operational, the Delhi-Panipat rapid rail will provide connectivity to leading institutions such as Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology, IITM Group of Institutions, Ashoka University, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (Sonipat Campus), AIIMS, and Park Hospital. It will also facilitate quick access to recreational hubs such as the food joints, water park, and other similar hubs near Murthal. . Apart from the Delhi-Panipat rapid rail corridor, the other two corridors which will come up in the national capital region are Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut and Delhi-Gurugram-Rewari-Alwar RRTS corridors. These three RRTS corridors will converge at the Sarai Kale Khan station in Delhi.
