Bharat Electronics Ltd. is chasing two big ticket government orders in order to make up for the shortfall in its order book target for the year. The company has, so far, bagged orders worth Rs 7,000 crore versus a target of Rs 13,000-16,000 crore, said the company's Managing Director, MV Gowtama.

The two government orders Bharat Electronics is eyeing include seven squadrons of Akash weapons and P-17 class ships. “The government is keen to transform the defense segment from being import oriented to indigenous production,” Gowtama said.
