The grand auto fest is nearing its end. And, as usual crowds continue to pour in, but our auto expert Rashid Raza saw something today that he never believed was possible: An orderly queue!
Cars and bikes may have attracted eyeballs but Rashid wants to get into unexplored territories and here is what he found at the Auto Expo 2012.
Testing the taste buds
There's a stall called Omelettes. Three enterprising young men are serving up all kinds of…you guessed it! In the spirit of investigative journalism, I sampled two of them. Yum!
Not all technology should be launched
Nestled in the midst of the auto-related hullaballoo, is a sleepy little museum called the Jawaharlal Nehru Museum. There's a missile standing proud outside. It makes me think. Not all technology should be launched.
Laughing out loud
The Top Gear Magazine stall is playing my favourite TV show on their display screens. I got so lost in the show, I was laughing out loud! The guards approached me twice, then decided to leave the nut case alone. There are also magazines to buy and subscribe to, although I didn't bother with those.
Take a peek at buses
About the cars. No new launches, and good luck getting a clear view of any of the displays, but if you can, take a peek at all the new buses on display. Volvo, Tata, Isuzu….they'll be taking you on vacation soon enough.
Ah! found peace at last
After wandering aimlessly, and getting pushed and jostled, you can find relative peace and relaxation in the innumerable parks and gardens dotting the Maidan. There are ice-cream vendors and coffee vendors almost every thirty feet.
