Apple Inc. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook said sales began to “pick up” in the second half of April after a “very depressed” month, suggesting a turning point for the consumer electronics giant.
Sales declined sharply in late March and early April before starting to recover, Cook said in an interview with Bloomberg Television. He attributed the improvement to new products, which include an updated iPad Pro, iPhone SE and MacBook Air. He said people were also more willing to spend after settling into the new reality and with help from the U.S. economic stimulus package.

Apple is “very optimistic about how things can go,” Cook said in the interview Thursday, when the company reported quarterly financial results. “The stimuluses that have been done were bold, and I think that will play well. If more is needed, it seems like there will be more done, so that is also a great positive.”
