Private healthcare chain Apollo Hospital has entered into a joint venture for its first hospital in East Africa. It will open the hospital in Tanzania.
The agreement has been signed with Tanzania's National Social Security Fund (NSSF). NSSF will provide building for the hospital in capital Dar-es-Salam.
Apollo Hospitals will invest Rs 200-250 crore in a 300-bed hospital (which will be extended later to 500 beds) in the capital of Tanzania. The joint venture deal comes amid PM Manmohan Singh's ongoing visit to Tanzania.
Apollo plans to make Dar-es-salam as its hub from where it will expand in various parts of Africa. Back in India, Apollo Hospital has changed the way of health care business. And with growing competition, the hospital giants are now looking for new avenues.
