Stock Market LIVE: Lodha Developers Shares Open Higher After Rs 30,000-Crore MoU With Maharashtra

Shares of Lodha Developers Ltd. have opened with strong gains on Friday, reaching an intraday high of Rs 1,218 apiece on the back of a mega Rs 30,000-crore Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government.

The stock is currently trading at Rs 1,192, which compares to yesterday's closing price of Rs 1,181. On a year-to-date period, though, the stock has fallen 13%, and over the past 12 months, the shares have largely remained flat.

IFA Global is not very bearish on Indian rupee, said founder Abhishek Goenka. He does not see any reason for runnaway depreciation in the rupee against US dollar.

Dollar selling pressure has stopped due to the increased uncertainty around the US. Broad trend of the greenback is globally weak, he said in an interview to NDTV Profit

Infosys Share Buyback: Stock Gains After IT Giant Announces Record Rs 18,000 Crore Share Repurchase

Infosys Ltd.'s share price rose 2% on Friday after the company announced its first buyback in three years. The company will buy back shares worth Rs 18,000 crore.

Notably, the buyback is higher than market estimates. The buyback represents 10 crore shares, or 2.4% of equity; it is not the highest in terms of equity percentage. In 2017, the Bengaluru-headquartered company repurchased 4.9% equity. Based on historical data, the entire process should take 3-4 months to complete.

Sectoral Performance At Open: Nifty Realty Emerges As Top Gainer 

On National Stock Exchange, 14 sectoral indices advanced with the NSE Nifty Realty outperforming. The NSE Nifty FMCG was the worst performing sector.

Nifty Contributors: Infosys, RIL, ICICI Bank Support Gains

Infosys Ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., Larsen & Toubro Ltd., and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. added to the NSE Nifty 50 index.

Hindustan Unilever Ltd., Eternal Ltd., ITC Ltd., UltaTech Cement Ltd., and SBI Life Insurance Co limited gains.

The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex were trading higher tracking as Infosys Ltd. and Reliance Industries Ltd. share prices supported. The indices were trading 0.21% and 0.26% higher, respectively as of 9:21 a.m.

Infosys Buyback: US SEC Gives Exemptive Relief For Record Rs 18,000 Crore Share Repurchase

Infosys Ltd. has received exemptive relief from the US Securities and Exchange Commission for its 18,000-crore buyback, according to its notification to the exchanges. The company announced its first share buyback in three years, since October 2022.

Now, the buyback is awaiting approval from existing shareholders via a special resolution and postal ballot.

Asia Market LIVE: Nikkei 225 And KOSPI Hit Record High Tracking Global Rally 

Japan's benchmark index Nikkei 225 and South Korea's KOSPI hit a record high early Friday trackinga rally in global equities. Both the indices were contributing to the MSCI Asia index's rally.

The Nikkei 225 and KOSPI were trading 0.58% and 1.12% higher, respectively of 7:09 a.m.

US Makets: What Happened Overnight On Wall Street?

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite hit a fresh high on Thursday after economic data supported a view of faster and more rate cuts in the US.

The core US CPI, which keeps energy and food prices aside, rose 0.3% in August compared to 3.1% in the corresponding period of last year. This is in line with the analysts' expectations.

Meanwhile, claims for unemployment benefit in the US jumped to the highest level in almost four years last week. Both the data points supported expectation of a rate cut in the upcoming meeting of the US Federal Open Market Committee.

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite ended 0.85% and 0.72% higher, respectively on Thursday.

LIVE: GIFT Nifty Suggests Positive Open; Infosys, M&M, IREDA Shares In Focus

The GIFT Nifty was trading 0.30% or 76.50 points higher at 25,187 as of 6:31 a.m. This implied that the benchmark NSE Nifty 50 will likely open higher.

Traders will keep an eye on Infosys Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Indian Renewable Energy Development, NBCC (India) Ltd., Bharat Forge Ltd. shares were in focus because of the overnight newsflow.

The Nifty extended its rally for the seventh consecutive session on Thursday, making it the best rally of gains since April 2025, while the Sensex closed in the green with little change.

The NSE Nifty 50 settled 32.4 points or 0.13% higher at 25,005.50 and the BSE Sensex closed 123.58 points or 0.15% up at 81,548.73.
