US President Donald Trump on Thursday unveiled his ambitious "Board of Peace" at the World Economic Forum in Davos, with the near-term goal to oversee the ceasefire in Gaza.

While announcing its launch, Trump reiterated his claim of ending "eight wars" in the past one year, and claimed that he would "soon be ending" another war. "The one I thought was going to be an easy one has turned out to be probably the most difficult," Trump said regarding the Russia-Ukraine war.

The US President stated that he wanted "everybody" to be part of the Board Of Peace. He also stated that he will "work with many others, including the United Nations". Trump expressed his gratitude to former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair for attending the ceremony. "Thank you Tony for being here, we appreciate it," he said.

Trump also commended his actions with regards to dropping bombs on Iran's nuclear sites in June 2025, and claimed that they "obliterated" Iran's nucelar program. "Iran does want to talk, and will talk," Trump stated. He also spoke about US operations against the Islamic State group in Syria.

Trump stated "many good things are happening" in the geopolitical landscape, and claimed that the dangers to Europe, America and the Middle East "are really calming down".

"Just one year ago, the world was actually on fire, a lot of people didn't know it," he said.

Trump reiterated his interest in working with the UN amid reports of EU member countries putting off on joining due to speculation that the Board Of Peace may seek to replace the UN.

The UK has reservations against joining the Board Of Peace due to concerns around Russian President Vladimir Putin's likely participation. Trump had also threatened with 200% tariffs on its wine and champagne if they did not join.

Trump who has had a history of criticising the UN stated that he sees "tremendous potential" in the international body. He said that the combined efforts of the UN and the Board of Peace would be "something very, very unique for the world" and "the first step towards a brighter day for the Middle East".
