Billionaire Elon Musk is addressing the gathering of the World Economic Forum in the Swiss town of Davos Thursday evening. It is his first time there, after years of publicly criticising the annual conclave of political and business elites. The Tesla chief has been among the most vocal critic of the European Union and liberal establishments, often engaging with far-right political parties in countries like Germany, the UK, and France.
The major breakthrough SpaceX is hoping to achieve this year is full reusability of rockets, said Elon Musk. "It will be a profound invention. The cost of access to space will drop by a factor of hundred."
"Humanoid robotics will advance very quickly. By the end of this year, Tesla Optimus robots could be deployed for an industrial environment. We could be selling those robots from next year," said Elon Musk.
SpaceX will launch solar-powered AI satellites, said Elon Musk. He said harnessing the power of the Sun will be the most important function for human advancement.
"AI companies will seek as many customers as they can. The cost of AI is plummeting every year," said Elon Musk.
"I think we will be able to solve ageing. I think we will figure out ways to extend life and reverse ageing, highly likely," Elon Musk said.
"Tesla is about sustainable technology and abundance. With robotics and AI, it is the path to abundance for all. We need to be careful with them, don't want to be in a 'Terminator' movie," said Elon Musk.
"My goal is to maximise the future of human civilization and expand consciousness beyond Earth. SpaceX is advancing rocket technology to an extent that humans can expand to the Moon and Mars. Life as we know it is precarious and delicate," Elon Musk said.

Elon Musk will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos for the first time today, marking a striking reversal for the entrepreneur who has publicly criticised the annual gathering of political and business elites. He will join BlackRock CEO Larry Fink on a panel.
Musk has previously slammed the annual Davos gathering as elitist, unaccountable and disconnected from ordinary people. He has repeatedly mocked Davos on his social media platform X, calling it "boring" and saying the WEF is "an unelected world government that the people never asked for and don't want."
Elon Musk, the world's richest man, is far too familiar with politics across both sides of the Atlantic. After championing Trumpism is America, the SpaceX founder has dabbled in European politics, regularly promoting far-right viewpoints in places like Germany, the UK, and France.
Musk has been a strong critic of EU immigration policies, that he alleges have allowed people from Africa and the Middle East flood the continent and change its demography. He has appeared in rallies of far-right parties like the AFD in Germany and the Reform Party in Britain.
