After the 90-degree Aishbagh bridge and the short-clearance Kendriya Vidyalaya Metro Station, Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal is once again in the news, this time for getting its own 'Eiffel Tower' in the middle of the road.
The new wonder in the city which we are talking about is the high-tension electric line tower which stands in the middle of a road in Karond locality. The tower has raised serious safety concerns for commuters and motorists traveling under it.
The locals have sarcastically called it the city's own “Eiffel Tower.”
What is amusing is that the structure, which is located in Vinayak Colony, Ward No 14, was at the place for over two decades. However, the decision to open a new road just beneath the high-voltage line surprised the locals.
Several vehicles and pedestrians navigate through this stretch on a daily basis. Locals fear that this could be deadly, mainly during monsoons.
A young girl reportedly sustained burn injuries due to the high-tension lines, reported NDTV.
Speaking to NDTV, a local resident, Shailendra Singh, said the risk has increased after colonies came up in the area, which used to be open fields previously.

Another resident, Salman, told the news channel that despite informing local councillors and Cabinet Minister Vishwas Sarang, nothing had happened.
“My brother was electrocuted recently. We complained but did not get any response,” said Riya.
Quoting a local businessman, the report stated that big vehicles and school buses cannot enter the road, and it causes trouble everyday.
Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar told NDTV that he was unaware of the issues initially, and stated that shifting of the line needed budget clearance, specific conditions like railway lines, projects or municipal land requirements.
Similar incident in Bengaluru
A similar incident was reported from Bengaluru's Hebbal area in 2025, where a high-tension (HT) transmission tower stood tall in the middle of the road.
According to a report by The Hindu, the tower stood at the spot for 60 years and was brought into attention by an ‘X' user.
After the photos of the tower went viral on social media, the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (KPTCL) announced that it would restrict vehicular movement below the towers, and repair the bottom of the structure that was damaged after heavy vehicles rammed into it.
