Apple announced the launch of a new version of its flagship iPhone and the latest iteration of the iPad Air powered by its M4 which facilitates high performance tasks on Monday.
The consumer technology company confirmed the launch of the iPhone 17e and the iPad Air with the former being a more affordable version of the iPhone 17 and the latter having improved processing speed as well and 50% more unified system memory as compared to its previous generation. NDTV Profit breaks down the pricing, specs and new features present in both devices:
iPhone 17e
Pricing
iPhone 17e will retail at $599 for 256GB of storage, which is two times the entry storage compared to the last generation at the same starting price, and four times more than iPhone 12. This is expected to provide users with more space for 4K high-resolution photos and videos, apps, games, and more.
Specs
The phone is powered by Apple's latest generation A19 operating system. It also features C1X, a cellular modem designed by Apple, which is twice as fast as the previous version C1 used in iPhone 16e.
It sports a 48 megapixel (MP) Fusion camera with standout features such a next-generation portraits, and 4K Dolby Vision video. It also uses an optical-quality 2x Telephoto — which gives the same utility as having two cameras in one.
Its display consists of a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR and has features such as Ceramic Shield 2, which has three times better scratch resistance than the last generation as well as reduced glare.
It also sports the MagSafe wireless charging feature along with "access to a vast ecosystem of accessories like chargers and cases."
The phone also provides for situations where users are outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage, with them being able to avail Apple's satellite powered features such as Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My.
Colours
The device will be available in black, white and soft pink along with a premium matte finish.

iPad Air
Pricing
The iPad Air is being sold at $599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch model. The Education version of the 11-inch and 13-inch model is retailing at $549, and $749 respectively. Customers will be able to pre-ordering the iPad Air from, March 4 onwards with it being available from March 11.
Specs
This version of the iPad Air powered by the M4 chip is 30% faster than the previous Pad Air which used the M3, the company said and 2.3 times faster than iPad Air which used the M1 chip. The device also sports the latest in Apple silicon connectivity chips, N1 and C1X, along with support for Wi-Fi 7.
The company said the device has "game-changing" iPadOS 26 capabilities, with advanced cameras, all-day battery life, a powerful app ecosystem, and support for accessories like Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard, iPad Air.
