The government has allowed motor and health insurance policy holders to defer payment of their renewal premium falling due during the 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
If health or third party motor insurance policy premium is due between March 25 and April 14, policy holders will be allowed to make the payment by April 21, according to a gazette notification from the Finance Ministry.
The decision will “ensure continuity of the statutory motor vehicle third party insurance, and health insurance cover from the date on which the policy falls due for renewal,” the notification said.
