Oscar-Winning French Composer Michel Legrand Dies at 86

(Bloomberg) -- French composer and jazz pianist Michel Legrand, who won three Oscars, has died at the age of 86, AFP reported.

Legrand first won an Academy Award in 1969 for the song “The Windmills of Your Mind” in The Thomas Crown Affair. He won two more Oscars, in 1972 and 1984, for the best original scores in Summer of '42 and Yentl.

During a career spanning more than 50 years, Legrand wrote more than 200 film and TV scores and worked with artists including Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and Edith Piaf.
