India's Initiatives Like Aadhaar A Model For Other Countries: Bill Gates
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates lauded India's technological advancements and the government's efforts to ensure India remains at the forefront of innovation.
"Initiatives like Aadhaar have been a model for other countries due to its empowering capabilities," Bill Gates said in an interview with NDTV.
Gates also emphasised the ongoing collaboration with the Indian government and individuals like Nandan Nilekani to share these innovative ideas globally.
He pointed out India's significant potential for growth in education and healthcare. He cited the example of utilising ultrasound technology to ensure pregnant women receive the necessary care based on their delivery needs.
Gates expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet, particularly for those with backgrounds in the computer industry, for their ability to follow through on critical projects. He acknowledged India's research in agriculture, which is important in addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
Gates highlighted their efforts with the Indian government's goals in health and agriculture. He revealed that artificial intelligence will play a massive role in the majority of their forthcoming projects. This will mark a new era of collaboration and innovation, he said.
Bill Gates On AutismÂ
In the interview, Gates opened up about his childhood and how his intense focus and social challenges have shaped his life.
Gates shared a story from his sixth-grade years when he was supposed to write a report on a US state. His classmates submitted reports of five to 10 pages, but Gates wrote a 200-page report on Delaware, leaving his teachers both impressed and shocked.
Gates said his teachers often discussed whether to take him ahead a grade or hold him back to allow him to mature socially. Despite his social struggles, Gates developed a deep love for intense focus and learning, which he still maintains today.
He revealed his tendencies for self-stimulation and deep focus are still present and sometimes make people nervous.
