Indian stocks edged marginally higher as investors held on to their bets ahead of the Reserve Bank of India policy decision later in the day. Both the S&P BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty 50 indices were little changed despite buyers outnumbering the sellers by at least 2:1.

Banks In Focus

The Nifty Bank Index extended gains for the third day to 25,137.95, ahead of the RBI's monetary policy review. Investors broadly expect the RBI's monetary policy committee to vote in favour of a 25-basis-point cut in the policy repo rate.

Hindustan Copper: Declines Most In 9 Months

Shares of the state-owned metal company fell as much as 7.51 percent to Rs 65.25 after the government proposed to sell 3.7 crore shares, or 4 percent stake in the company, through an offer-for-sale on August 2 and 3.

The government's stake post the sale will come down to 78.88 percent. The floor price for the offer has been set at Rs 64.75 per share.

Today's drop was the most for the stock since November of last year. It has risen 11 percent so far this year, compared to the 22.5 percent gain in the Sensex.

Lupin: FDA Boost

Shares of the drug maker snapped its four-day losing streak and rose as much as 1.8 percent to Rs 1,036. The pharmaceutical company received a green signal from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a generic Lidex ointment, used for the relief of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.

Lidex Ointment had U.S. sales of $40.3 million in the year to March 2017, the company said citing IMS data. Besides this, the company is expected to announce its April-June quarter earnings later in the day.

Bloomberg data showed that Lupin trades at 18.2 times trailing 12-month earnings per share. Among the brokerages tracked by Bloomberg, 25 have a ‘buy' rating on the stock, while 12 have a ‘hold', and the remaining seven have a ‘sell' rating.

TVS Motors: Worst Performer On BSE Auto Index

Shares of the two and three-wheeler manufacturer fell as much as 1.2 percent, the most in over a week to Rs 589.30. The company's overall sales grew 9 percent on a year-on-year basis in July, led by its scooter segment.

The stock was the worst performer on S&P BSE Auto Index. The stock has gained 63.5 percent so far this year, compared with a gain of 22.8 percent for the S&P BSE Auto index.

Hero Motocorp: Gains On July Sales

Shares of the country's largest two-wheeler maker extended gains for the third day. In early trade, it rose as much as 2.5 percent, the most in over two-months, to Rs 3,820. The company sold 6.2 lakh units in July, 17 percent higher than the corresponding month in the previous year.

The stock was the second best performer on Nifty 50 Index. It has returned 27 percent so far this year and a gain of 20 percent in the past 12-months.

RCF: Gains Most In Two Years

Shares of the fertiliser maker gained 15 percent, the most in almost two-and-a-half years, after multiple block deals on the exchanges.

The Relative Strength Index was 79, indicating that the stock may be overbought. It has risen over 108 percent so far this year.

Bajaj Auto: July Sales Disappoint

Shares of the two-wheeler maker fell as much as 1.3 percent to Rs 2,786. The company sold 3,07,727 units in the previous month, 7 percent lower, compared to the sales in July 2016. The company's sales dropped for the fifth month in a row and exports declined for the second month in a row.

The stock was among the worst performer on S&P BSE Sensex Index. The analyst consensus price target stands at 2,906.70, just 3.3 percent above the current market price.

  • Provisions up 48 percent at Rs 200 crore versus Rs 135 crore

Reliance Defence Union (YoY)

  • Shares of the submarine maker declined for the third straight day and fell as much as 3.2 percent, the most in over two months to Rs 60
  • Revenue up 136 percent at Rs 165 crore versus Rs 70 crore
  • Net loss at Rs 230 crore versus loss of Rs 135 crore
  • Exceptional loss of Rs 163 crore dents profits
  • EBITDA at Rs 13 crore versus Rs 1.3 crore, up 900 percent
  • Margin at 7.9 percent versus 1.8 percent

  • Shares of the medical electronics company snapped two-day decline and rose as much as 10 percent, the most in over two-months to Rs 10.30

  • Revenue down 5.9 percent at Rs 48 Crore
  • EBITDA up 39.8 percent at Rs 7.5 Crore

  • Shares of the logistics company gained for the fourth straight day and rose as much as 3.7 percent, the most in a week to Rs 570
  • Revenue up 15.7 percent at Rs 203.2 crore
  • PAT up 71.4 percent at Rs 12 crore
  • EBITDA up 57 percent to Rs 18.5 crore
  • EBITDA margin at 9.1 percent versus. 6.7 percent

  • Shares of the Shares of the Oberoi hotel owner rose as much as 4.8 percent to Rs 138.20
  • Revenue up 3.8 percent at Rs 284.5 crore
