South Indian Bank Q1 Profit up 39%; Stock Gains

The bank’s total income went up by 9.5 percent to Rs 1,620 crore

South Indian Bank's profit went up 38.7 percent to Rs 95 crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2016-17, compared to Rs 65.2 crore in the same quarter last year.

The bank's total income went up 9.5 percent to Rs 1,620 crore, according to the company's financial results posted on the exchanges.

South Indian Bank's gross non performing assets increased marginally to 3.96 percent this quarter, from 3.77 percent in the December to March quarter.

The company's share price increased as much as 3 percent post the earnings announcement.
