Shares of Bharat Petroleum Corp. and State Bank of India were the top gainers in Tuesday's trade, while Bajaj Auto Ltd., Hero Motocorp Ltd. and Bajaj Finserv Ltd. were the top laggards on NSE Nifty 50.
The benchmark indices ended the day in the red. The Nifty 50 ended with losses for tenth straight session while BSE Sensex ended with losses for the third straight session.
Nifty 50 ended 36.65 points, or 0.17% lower at 22,082, while the BSE Sensex closed 96.01 points or 0.13% down at 72,989.
On the NSE, five of the 12 sectors declined, and other seven gained. Nifty Auto and Nifty IT fell the most, whereas Nifty Media and Nifty PSU Bank gained the most.

BPCL, the top gainer in the Nifty 50, gained as much as 3.52% and closed 3.02% higher on Monday.
SBI rose 3.33%, followed by Bharat Electronics Ltd. and Shriram Finance Ltd., which rose 2.88% and 1.71%, respectively. Adani Enterprises Ltd.'s shares rose 1.27%.
The gains in the shares of SBI came after Citi gave the largest state-run lender a double upgrade, changing its rating on the stock from 'sell' to 'buy' and hiking the target price from Rs 720 to Rs 830
On the flip side, shares of Bajaj Auto and HeroMoto Corp. fell as much as 5% and 3.05%, respectively, bringing the two automobile firms among the top laggards.
Bajaj Finserv Ltd. and HCL Tech Ltd. also declined during the session, falling 2.62% and 2.67%, respectively.
