Maruti Suzuki’s Sales Jump On Compacts, Exports

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.'s sales rose for the thirteenth straight month, driven by the volumes of its compacts.

The country's largest carmaker sold 1.49 lakh units in February, a 15 percent jump over the same month last year, according to its stock exchange notification. Domestic sales at 1.37 lakh vehicles jumped 14.2 percent. Exports rose 24.9 percent, the most in eight months, to 11,924 units.

Segment Wise Performance

  • Mini segment (Alto and WagonR) rose 2.1 percent to 33,789 units.
  • Compact segment (Swift, Baleno and Ignis) rose 38.7 percent to 65,213.
  • Utility vehicles segment (Ertiga S-Cross and Vitara Brezza) rose 13.8 percent to 20,324 units.
  • Mid-size sedan Ciaz declined 16.8 percent to 4,897 vehicles.

Shares of the car maker were little changed at Rs 8,859 after swinging in an over 1.5 percent range.
