Tata Motors Ltd.-owned Jaguar Land Rover reported a 3.6 percent year-on-year increase in retail sales in July led by a pick-up in the China market.

The subsidiary sold 46,074 units in the last month aided by the introduction of the long-wheel base Jaguar XFL in China, continuing sales of F-Pace, Discovery Sport and Range Rover, Tata Motors said in an exchange filing on Monday.

The company also cited sales ramp-up in the new Discovery, on sale in North America and China, as well as the introduction of the Range Rover Velar.

Jaguar Land Rover's sales declined in most markets, with the exception of China, which saw a surge.

Geographical Break-Up

  • U.K.: Sales declined 1 percent
  • North America: Sales fell 2.7 percent
  • Europe: Sales descended 5.7 percent
  • China: Sales jumped 34.4 percent

Jaguar sales fell 1.8 percent in July from the same month last year while its counterpart Land Rover recorded a 5.8 percent increase in the same period.
