Future Retail Ltd.'s net profit doubled in the July-September quarter, matching analyst estimates on the back of improved operational performance.

Net profit rose 107.8 percent year-on-year to Rs 153 crore, according to an exchange filing. The bottom line was ahead of the Bloomberg consensus estimate of Rs 150 crore.

The company's profit was aided by an expanding operational performance. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation rose 64.7 percent to Rs 211 crore, while margin expanded 160 basis points to 4.7 percent.

Revenue rose 7.5 percent to Rs 4,506.3 crore, falling short of the Bloomberg consensus estimate of Rs 4,939 crore.

Earlier this month Future Retail acquired Hypercity from Shoppers Stop Ltd. for Rs 655 crore to step up Future retail's expansion plans.

The company's stock outperformed the benchmark index with gains of 307.9 percent this year, as against 25.33 percent rise in the benchmark BSE Sensex. Shares fell as much as 1.89 percent to Rs 515.7 apiece in intra-day trading today.
