Asian markets opened on a tentative note as investors awaited the monthly U.S. jobs report due later today. The MSCI Asia Pacific Index, a regional benchmark, is on track for a weekly decline.
On Thursday, U.S. stocks slipped as energy producers slid on lower crude prices. U.S. crude output fell 2.3 percent, the largest drop in output since 2013.

The move towards safe havens continued to remain the dominant theme in the currency markets. The Japanese yen is on track to be the best performing currency this week.

Meanwhile markets in India look set to open lower. The SGX Nifty is trading around 0.18% lower.
