Mumbai Marathon: Here’s What You Must Do To Reach The Finish Line Without Hiccups
It's that time of the year when runners, amateurs and veterans, line up on the busiest roads of Mumbai to compete and complete India's biggest marathon.
With many first-time runners gearing up for the 16th edition of the Mumbai Marathon on Sunday, professional trainers suggest tips to help them get to the finish line without hiccups.
Practice can help first-time marathoners get in proper frame of mind, according to Shiraz Siddiqui, a sport nutritionist at a fitness training company Runningcompany.in. “Before an athlete is ready to race, you have to do at least one or two marathons to know whether you are at your targets or you may need to course correct.”
He advised amateur athletes to stick to their training plan and not add surprises on race day. “This can prevent you from achieving your race goals.”
Praful Uchil, founder of outdoor fitness training company Striders, advised against running with the masses. “Try and build your pathway through the side of the road and go at your own pace.”
Uchil also said that professional training is necessary before a marathon and one can't jump into a 42-km or 21-km run. “Without a proper certification, even the organizers will not let you get in to a 42-km easily.”
Watch how professionals discuss training techniques, and dos and don'ts before the marathon.
