Weightlifting: Gold For Sanjita Chanu
Sanjita Chanu wins the second gold medal in weightlifting for India with a lift of 192 kg. Defending champion Papua New Guinea's Loa Dika Toua came distant second second with a lift of 182 kg. Sanjita during her attempts broke Commonwealth Games record in the snatch category with a lift of 84 kg. Participating in the 53 kg category this time, Sanjita had won gold in Glasgow in 2014 in the 48 kg category.

Pranati Nayak and Aruna Budda Reddy have scored 13.250 and 13.200 points in the vault, but will have to wait till late evening to find out if they have made it to the medal round. In sub-division 1 (and there are four sub-divisions of 10 gymnasts each), South Africa's Claudia Cummins has the best score in vault with 13.400.

Sanjita Chanu has taken the lead with a Commonwealth Games record snatch of 84 kg, beating Swati Singh's 83 kgs lift in Glasgow. Canada's Rachel Leblanc-Bazinet is second with 81 kgs ahead of Papua New Guinea's Loa Dika Toua. Sanjita had lifted 85kg in the Commonwealth Championships last year and it was expected that she would try to beat her personal best.

Indians in Action on Day 2
After Mirabai Chanu and Gururaja bagged medals in their respective categories on the opening day for India, India's Sanjita Chanu will be vying for a medal in the 53 kg category in weightlifting.
Weightlifting will be the only medal event where the Indians will be competing on Day 2.
The women's hockey team will also be in action against Malaysia on Day 2 from 10 am. Rani Rampal and co lost their first match against Wales 2-3 on Day 1.
Day 2 of the Games will also see Indian squash players in action with Joshna Chinappa opening their campaigns.
