Smriti Irani Takes Additional Charge Of I&B Ministry, NS Tomar Given Urban Development
Textiles Minister Smriti Irani on Tuesday got the additional charge of the information and broadcasting ministry after M Venkaiah Naidu resigned from the Cabinet to contest the vice-presidential poll.
The portfolio of urban development, which too was with Naidu, was given to Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, the Prime Minister's Office said in a release.
The BJP had on Wednesday decided to field Naidu as NDA's candidate for the post of vice president.

July 18, 2017After taking charge, she held meeting with Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Prasar Bharati Chief Executive Officer SS Vempati and other senior officials of the I&B ministry.
She had also met Naidu earlier in the day.
