National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has opened registrations for its Summer Internship Programme 2026, inviting student applicants from various fields. The internship is designed to offer practical experience in infrastructure growth through experiential training on national highway schemes.
Interns will work under the guidance of senior managers and project teams, gaining knowledge about planning, execution, and oversight of extensive highway initiatives across the nation.
NHAI internship stipend & total intake
Selected individuals will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 20,000 along with a certificate upon successful completion. The internship will also offer practical learning experiences, enabling students to obtain hands-on exposure to infrastructure initiatives, the application of technology, and industry-leading practices.

Candidates can submit their applications via the official internship platform on the official website, internshipsatnhai.digitalindiacorporation.in. The deadline to submit applications for the two-month internship is April 15. Selected participants will be stationed at NHAI field offices and headquarters.
NHAI Internship Eligibility & Schedule for the Internship
The internship is scheduled from May 4 to July 5, 2026, and spans multiple disciplines, including undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in civil engineering, as well as other disciplines such as computer science, IT, electronics, data science, finance, law, management, commerce, and mass communication.
Students of civil engineering will participate in roadway design, traffic management, and construction oversight, while individuals from other fields will assist with analytics, information technology systems, toll operations, legal affairs, and project oversight functions.
NHAI aims to involve approximately 500 interns each year through this initiative. This internship programme has been designed in partnership with the Department of Higher Education and the All-India Council for Technical Education, focusing on enhancing technical and managerial skills among students.
The initial stage of the initiative, which commenced in December 2025, saw robust involvement: 244 civil engineering scholars engaged in the month-long winter placement, and 149 students registered for the half-year internship from January to June 2026.
