Mumbai recorded its second highest voter turnout in 30 years at 52.4% as of 11:30 pm on Tuesday, but failed to match 2019 turnout.
An approximate voter turnout of 57.82% was recorded as of 9 pm on Monday in 49 constituencies in six states and two Union Territories in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections.
While Maharashtra recorded the lowest voter turnout, with 49.69% voters exercising their franchise, West Bengal recorded the highest voting percentage with 73.06%.

Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla Parliament Constituency sees the highest turnout in the last 8 Lok Sabha elections with 54.49% voter turnout. Earlier, in the fourth phase, Srinagar PC partly recorded voter turnout of 38.49%, highest in many decades. This was the first general election in the valley after the abrogation of Article 370 and the enactment of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

Over 52% polling was recorded in Ladakh till 1 pm on Monday in the election. The largest constituency in the country in terms of area, witnessed 71% turnout in the 2019 general election. This is the first major electoral battle in the region after it was carved out of Jammu and Kashmir and granted Union territory status in 2019.
Three candidates are contesting for the seat. The BJP has fielded Tashi Gyalson, chief executive councilor-cum-chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (Leh) and the Congress has nominated Tsering Namgyal.

Shiv Sena leader Milind Deora said it is the first time in 45 years that his family is not contesting the elections from the South Mumbai seat.
"In a way, it's a bit of a strange feeling. I appeal to the voters that India is the largest democracy in the world, everyone is proud of it. To make this democracy stronger, there is only one process which comes before us once in 5 years, this opportunity is voting," he said.

Samajwadi Party candidate from Gonda parliamentary constituency, Shreya Verma, has complained to the Election Commission that fair polling is not taking place at two booths in Mankapur area in Gonda.
According to reports from Kaushambi, voters of Hisampur Madho village boycotted voting. Angry villagers say they will consider voting only after getting an assurance from the administration that a road and railway bridge will be built in their area.
Voting was progressing peacefully in West Bengal where the Election Commission removed a BSF jawan from poll duty in Uluberia Lok Sabha constituency following a complaint of molestation against him, an official said.
In Odisha, officials said EVM glitches were reported from Sundergarh Lok Sabha constituency and were addressed immediately. The defects in EVMs were identified during the mock poll ahead of voting and replaced within 30 minutes.
In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray claimed there were lot of complaints from electors about facilities outside polling booths.

More than 21.3% of the 17.37 lakh electorate exercised their franchise in the first four hours of polling in the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.
An official of the election department said polling was going on smoothly across the Lok Sabha constituency which comprises 18 assembly segments and is spread over four districts of Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara and Budgam.

The Mumbai police held extensive drills, made over 200 preventive arrests and took action against drug peddlers to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of Lok Sabha polls in the metropolis, an official said on Sunday.
In the past two days, the police have nabbed seven wanted accused, arrested 17 people facing non-bailable warrants and took action against 46 people under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he said.
