(Bloomberg) -- Republicans asked the U.S. Supreme Court to block the extension of absentee voting in Tuesday's presidential primary in Wisconsin, bringing the first coronavirus-related case to the nation's highest court.
The Republican National Committee is challenging a federal judge's extension of the absentee ballot deadline to April 13 in the election, which also includes a hotly disputed battle over a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Wisconsin is holding the election even though the state's Democratic governor has issued a stay-at-home order because of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who handles emergency matters from Wisconsin, called for response from Democrats by Sunday at 2 p.m. Washington time.
