Santosh Kumar Gangwar, the newly appointed minister of state (MoS) for finance, is confident that the government will be able to pass the long-pending Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill in the monsoon session of Parliament.
Speaking to BloombergQuint, Gangwar said the passage of the GST Bill will further bolster India's image.
Gangwar, a seven-time member of Parliament, was previously the minister of state in charge of the textiles ministry. Smriti Irani, the former human resources development (HRD) minister, will now take over Gangwar's earlier portfolio. Gangwar and new entrant Arjun Ram Meghwal replace Jayant Sinha, who was appointed as the minister of state for civil aviation.
Arjun Ram Meghwal, who is among the 19 new entrants in Narendra Modi's council of ministers, told BloombergQuint that his primary aim would be to ensure that the country'seconomy reaches double digit growth.
Meghwal is currently the Bharatiya Janata Party's chief whip in the Lok Sabha.
