Indians in Action on Day 4
Day 4 of the 2018 Commonwealth Games will see some of India's big medal favourites start their campaigns.
Competing in her first-ever Commonwealth Games will be MC Mary Kom who opens her campaign against Scotland's Megan Gordon in the quarterfinals of the 48 kg category. The 35-year-old is the favourite to claim the gold in a draw which features only eight boxers. A victory on Sunday guarantees her a medal at the Games.
Shooting events also start on Sunday and in action will be two big medal favourites, Heena Sidhu and youngster Manu Bhaker. Both women will be competing in the 10m air pistol event that will see the finals take place later in the morning itself.
Both Men's and Women's hockey teams will be seen in action on Sunday with the Women's team playing England while Men's playing Wales.
Both Badminton and Table Tennis teams will also play on Sunday, both being semifinals.
Women lifters will compete in two categories (69kg, 75kg) while Vikas Thakur will be seen in action in Men's 75 kg category.
Athletics: Men's 20 km Race Walk Finals
India's Manish Rawat has finished sixth and KT Irfan was a disappointing 13th in the 20 km race walk.
Manish Rawat clocked 1:22:22 in an eventful race, being warned twice for losing contact and picking up a yellow card for improper conduct under IAAF competition rule 125.5. He was with the leading bunch for a good part of eight kilometres. Irfan could not find enough pace after the first four kilometres and he went to complete the race in 1:27:34.

Shooting: Manu Bhaker Breaks CWG Qualification Record to Qualify!
India's Manu Bhaker and Heena Sidhu make it to final of the women's 10m air pistol event. Bhaker shot 388 out of 400 to break 10m air pistol qualification record. Heena came second in the qualification round with a a score of 379.
Weightlifting: Punam Yadav in Action
India's Punam Yadav, competing in the women's 69 kg weightlifting event, will be trying to win India's seventh medal of the Games.

In her first attempt in snatch category, Punam looked tense but she comfortably lifts 95 kg and goes into the lead for now.

Hockey (Women): India Takes the Lead

Weightlifting: Punam Nails Her Third Attempt
Punam Yadav lifts 100 kg effortlessly with a smile in her final snatch attempt. With this lift, Punam puts herself in a medal position.
Hockey (Women): India Beat Olympic Champion England
India cause an upset after they beat England 2-1 in their Pool A encounter. Rani Rampal and Co did well to comeback and score two goals after England took the lead in the first 30 seconds of the match.

Athletics: Racewalker Khushbir Kaur Finishes 4th
India's 20 km race walker Khushbir Kaur finished fourth after her compatriot Soumya Baby was disqualified before she could reach the 8km mark. Khushbir Kaur's time of 1:39:21 was a little over three minutes behind the bronze medal-winning Bethan Davis (Wales). Khushbir Kaur was fourth at the halfway stage but dropped pace to fifth. The Indian walkers, both men and women were thus unable to secure a podium finish in the Commonwealth Games.
Badminton: India Play Singapore in The Mixed Team Semis
India, who are unbeaten, take on Singapore in the semi-final. The mixed doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa take on Yong Kai Terry Hee and Jia Ying Crystal Wong in the first match of the semi-final.

Weightlifting: Gold For Punam Yadav
Punam Yadav won the 69 kg class gold medal – India's fifth from the sport so far. She lifted her personal bests in snatch (100 kg), clean and jerk (122 kg) for her best total of 222 kg. The Railways lifter, daughter of a farmer had won bronze in the 63 kg class in Glasgow in 2014.

Badminton: India Takes Lead Against Singapore
Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy win India's first tie in the badminton mixed team semi-finals. They beat Singapore's Yong Kai Terry Hee and Jia Ying Crystal Wong 22-20, 21-18 in a hard-fought match.
Now, Kidambi Srikanth takes to the court to face Kean Yew Loh in men's singles match.
Boxing: MC Mary Kom Makes CWG Debut
Olympic medallist MC Mary Kom has entered the ring in what is her Commonwealth Games debut. She's fighting Scotland's Megan Gordon in the quarterfinals of the 48kg category right now.
With just eight boxers fighting in the category, a win here will ensure the 35-year-old Indian of a medal in Gold Coast.
Shooting: Manu in the Lead
After 14 shots in the women's 10m air pistol final, Manu Bhaker has maintained her with 131.0 points. Heena Sidhu, who qualified second, has however dropped to the sixth position with 124.6 points.
Boxing: Mary Wins With Ease
All class from the Indian boxing ace as she defeats her 18-year-old opponent with ease. Mary is now assured of a medal in her debut Commonwealth Games.
Such was her dominance that three out of the four judges gave 30:24 as the score in her favour, the fourth judged 30:25 in her corner.

India are assured a 1-2 finish in the women's air pistol final with Manu Bhaker in the lead and Sidhu placed second.
Shooting: 16-Year-Old Manu Bags Gold
Just 16, Manu Bhaker has bagged India's first gold in shooting at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Completely in control through the final, Bhaker shot 240.9 to break the Commonwealth Games record on her way to the gold. Second placed Heena Sidhu could manage just 234 though she did stage quite a comeback after dropping to sixth at one stage in the final.
The bronze medal went to Australia's Elena Galiabovitch who ended with 214.9.
Fun fact: Bhaker made her international debut only last year.
Bhaker was the overwhelming favourite to win the event, having bagged gold medals at the 2018 ISSF World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico and the following Junior World Cup in Sydney.
The depth in Indian shooting now is incredible. It means if you qualify to represent India, you are already at a pretty high standard.
Shooting: Saniya in Women's Skeet Final
Saniya Sheikh has qualified for the final of the women's skeet event after shooting a total of 71 to finish the qualification stage in the third place.
Compatriot Maheshwari Chauhan though could not make the cut after finishing eighth with a total of 68.
Saniya shot 25 in the first round before shooting 23 each in the other two rounds at the Belmont Shooting Centre. Cyprus' Panagiota Andreou topped the qualification stage by shooting a total of 74, while Australian Aislin Jones finished second, totalling 71.
Table Tennis: Indian Womens Assured a Silver
The Indian women's table tennis team have beaten England 3-0 to enter the final of the team event, assuring themselves of at least a silver.
Seasoned campaigner Manika Batra gave the team an early 1-0 lead after bouncing back from one game down to beat Kelly Sibley 9-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-7. Madhurika Patkar doubled India's lead after overcoming a stiff contest from Tin-Tin Ho to win 11-7, 13-11, 10-12, 11-8 in the second singles match. The team's win was sealed by the doubles pair of Mouma Das and Madhurika, who edged past Maria Tsaptsinos and Kelly 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-1.
India will now face Singapore in the gold medal match later today.
Shooting: Ravi Kumar Bags a Bronze
India's third medal in shooting has come in the men's 10m Air Rifle event with Ravi Kumar bagging the bronze.
Ravi shot a total of 224.1 to finish behind Australian Dane Sampson (245) and Bangladesh's Abdullah Hel Baki (244.7), who won the gold and silver. Deepak Kumar, the other finalist from India, however, was eliminated early on.
Badminton: Indian Team in Final
Kidambi Srikanth and Saina Nehwal have helped India march into the finals of the mixed team event with a 3-1 win over Singapore.
The victory was sealed with Saina's win over Jia Min Yeo in the women's singles event after the men's doubles pair of Satwik Rankireddy and Chirag Chandrashekhar Shetty lost the third match of the contest.
India will now take on the winner of the second semi-final between England and Malaysia, in the gold medal match on Monday.
Boxing: Vikas Enters Quarters
Vikas Krishan has moved into the quarter-finals of the men's middleweight (75 kilogram) category with a hard fought victory over Campbell Somerville of Australia.
Vikas dominated the opening round before the Australian tried to make a strong comeback in the next two. The Indian however, did well to effectively counter his opponent and clinch a unanimous 5-0 verdict. The comfortable final scoreline is misleading as Vikas had to fight off a strong challenge from the 26-year-old Australian.
Weightlifting: Vikas Thakur Eyes Silver Medal
India could have another medal in the weightlifting arena. Vikas Thakur finished second in the snatch round with a lift of 159 kg, behind Canada's Boady Santavy.
In the clean and jerk round, Thakur lifted 192 kg in the first attempt, but failed to lift 200 kg in the second attempt.
Presently, Thakur is placed in the second spot with a total lift of 351 kg.
Weightlifting: PNG's Steven Kari Steals Thakur's Thunder
After Vikas Thakur fails to lift 200 kg in his third attempt, PNG's Steven Kari lifts 202 kg in his first attempt of the clean and jerk round.
With a total lift of 356 kg, Kari goes past Thakur's total lift of 351 kg. Kari has two more attempts in the clean and jerk round.
Weightlifting: Vikas Thakur Settles for a Bronze Medal
PNG's Steven Kari finished 14 kg behind Canada's Boady Santavy, who finished first in the snatch round. However, in two attempts Kari went past Santavy's total lift of 369 kg with lifts of 202 kg and 216 kg in the clean and jerk round.
Santavy lifted 196 kg and 201 kg in his first two attempts in the clean and jerk round, before failing to lift 206 kg in his third attempt.
Vikas Thakur sealed his spot in the third place ahead of England's Edmon Avetisyan.
