The Union Home Ministry has directed multiple states to carry out mock drills on Wednesday to assess civil defence readiness, according to NDTV.

The key measures in the mock drill will comprise activating air raid warning sirens and training civilians and students on civil defence strategies for protection during a potential hostile attack, All India Radio reported, citing ministry sources.

Additionally, the drills will involve implementing crash blackout protocols, early camouflage of vital installations, and reviewing evacuation plans through rehearsals, the report added.

The drills serve as practice exercises to help individuals prepare for emergencies or critical situations.

Delhi Police Gears Up

Following a directive from the Union Home Ministry regarding mock drills amid escalating Indo-Pak tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack, senior Delhi Police officials have instructed all DCPs to devise detailed preparation plans, sources told news agency PTI on Monday.

Deputy commissioners of police have begun conducting meetings with senior officers to enhance security measures and intensify patrolling across the national capital.

"We have already increased day and night patrolling in the city. We have deployed paramilitary forces, along with police personnel, at Delhi's borders with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Security has already been beefed up in the city. The DCPs are personally monitoring the arrangements in their districts. They are holding meetings with assistant commissioners of police and station house officers," a source told PTI.
