Vijay Rupani took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the second time on 26 December. He was sworn-in along with his deputy Nitin Patel, eight Cabinet Ministers and 10 Ministers of State.

After the oath-taking ceremony, Modi - who was Gujarat's CM between 2001 and 2014, went nostalgic and shared pictures of the ceremonies when he took oath in the past.

Diversity in the Cabinet
In the newly sworn-in Gujarat Council of Ministers, six Patidars leaders have been inducted along with one five ministers from Other Backward Class (OBC), three Scheduled Tribes (STs), three Kshatriyas and one Scheduled Caste (SC), reported ANI.
Notably, there is only one woman in the Council - Minister of State Vibhavariben Dave, who is also a Brahmin.

Apart from the CM and Deputy CM, there were eight Cabinet Ministers and 10 Ministers of State who were sworn-in.
The Cabinet Ministers who took oath were Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, RC Faldu, Kaushik Patel, Saurabh Patel, Vestabhai Vasava, Vithalbhai Radadiya, Dilipkumar Thakor and Ishwarbhai Parmar.
The Ministers of State, who were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor OP Kohli, were Pradipsinh Jadeja, Parthabhai Patel, Jaydrathsinh Parmar, Nanubhai Patkar, Ramanlal Nanubhai Patkar, Parsottambhai Solanki, Ishwarsinh Patel, Gopalbhai Ahir, Kishore Khanani, Bachubhai Maganbhai Khabad and Vibhavari Dave.

PM Modi to Attend Ceremony
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the swearing-in ceremony. Party president Amit Shah is also likely to attend, along with the chief ministers of the 18 other states where the BJP is currently in power, as The Times of India reported.
Rupani is likely to appoint only 20 members as opposed to the maximum of 27, giving a scope for expansion later, as sources claim.
Rupani, Nitin Patel to Be Sworn-in on 26 December
The new BJP government in Gujarat, led by Vijay Rupani and his deputy Nitin Patel, will take oath in Gandhinagar on Tuesday, 26 December. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah, chief ministers of all BJP-ruled states and those governed by NDA allies are expected at the ceremony, to be held at an open ground near the state secretariat, Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani said.
Several Union ministers and other senior leaders of the party have also been invited for the swearing-in ceremony.

Swearing-in of the CM and Cabinet Postponed: Reports
The swearing-in ceremony, which was scheduled for 25 December, of Vijay Rupani as Gujarat Chief Minister and his Cabinet has been postponed, as per local reports. The ceremony has been postponed due to unavailability of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as per media reports. The rescheduled date for the ceremony is likely to be 27 December.
While addressing a press conference on Friday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also refrained from mentioning the dates of the swearing-in ceremony.

Vijay Rupani will continue as the Gujarat Chief Minister, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced on Friday. His colleague, Nitin Patel, will retain his position of the Deputy Chief Minister.
However, the BJP leadership did not reveal the date of announcement.

Outgoing Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and other ministers handed over their resignation to OP Kohli, Governor of Gujarat, as the 13th assembly of the state dissolved on Thursday.
Rupani will be working as the caretaker chief minister until the BJP decides on a new chief minister.
Vala to Move from Karnataka to Gujarat?
Another name that is garnering much attention is Vajubhai Vala. The current Karnataka governor and former speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly shares close ties with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading to speculation ahead of the BJP's big announcement, according to The Hindu.
Modi and Vala's ties date back to 2002 when Vala vacated the Rajkot II seat for Modi to be able to contest elections. Modi had replaced Keshubhai Patel as the chief minister of Gujarat in 2001, and needed to win a by-election.
Soon after he became the Prime Minister, Modi appointed Vala as the governor of Karnataka.
Vala was a cabinet minister in the Gujarat government from 1997 to 2012, and the speaker of the Gujarat Assembly from 2012 to 2014.
Gujarat BJP MLAs Likely to Choose New Chief Minister on Friday
The newly-elected BJP legislators of Gujarat are likely to meet in Gandhinagar on 22 December to elect the next chief minister of the key western state, party sources said.
Union Minister Arun Jaitley and party General Secretary Saroj Pandey, who have been appointed central observers for the election, will hold consultations with the members of the Legislative Assembly before the new chief minister is announced.
