Mumbai and neighbouring Thane are set to get partial relief from the ongoing heat, with light rain and thunderstorms likely in the next five days, according to the latest weather prediction by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Dry weather is likely to continue for the next few days, but a change is expected around April 20-21. During this period, both Mumbai and Thane could see light rain or thundershowers, which will bring some relief from rising temperatures.

On the other hand, Nagpur is likely to remain under intense heat. The forecast shows heatwave conditions at isolated places on April 18, with no major respite in the days that follow.

Nashik will also witness extreme heat conditions on April 17, which will be followed by dry weather on April 18. From April 19 onwards, the weather will take a turn as thunderstorms, lightning and moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds are expected.

Meanwhile, Pune is expected to see a shift from dry weather to more active conditions. April 17 and 18 are likely dry, but light rain or thundershowers could set in from April 19.

More intense weather is forecast on April 20 and 21, with thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph at isolated locations.
