(Bloomberg) -- A U.S. national security official who says she was forced out during the Trump administration has been rehired by the Biden White House.
Ellen Knight was responsible for reviewing former National Security Adviser John Bolton's tell-all book on President Donald Trump for classified or sensitive information before its publication. She has said she was forced out of the National Security Council in the summer of 2020.
She's been rehired as senior director for records access management, a spokeswoman for President Joe Biden's NSC said Wednesday.
“Ellen Knight is a dedicated career public servant,” the spokeswoman, Emily Horne, said in a statement. “We're thankful to have her return to the National Security Council as the senior director for records, access and information security management and benefit from her extensive experience in classified information management.”

Knight believed in 2020 that the White House and Justice Department were trying to punish government workers in order to help block publication of Bolton's book, “The Room Where It Happened.” The Justice Department sued unsuccessfully to head off the book's release.
Knight's lawyer, Ken Wainstein, said at the time that Knight was concerned about the “politicization — or even the perceived politicization — of the prepublication review process.”
