The Delhi assembly elections 2025 on Wednesday will see an intense battle between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. A total of 699 candidates are contesting across 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi, and the counting of votes will be held on Feb. 8.

This is the first election after AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal's resignation as Delhi CM, who was jailed last year after being levelled with corruption charges.

Kejriwal’s AAP is eyeing another term in Delhi, while the BJP is desperate to break its losing streak since 1998. Meanwhile, the Congress, once the capital’s ruler under Sheila Dikshit, is hoping for a comeback in this high stakes battle.

Here are 10 key battles in Delhi assembly elections 2025:

New Delhi: Kejriwal Vs Parvesh Verma Vs Sandeep Dikshit

Seen as a battle for prestige, Kejriwal is looking to retain his stronghold—New Delhi—for the fourth straight time. Kejriwal who has held the constituency since 2013 is pitted against BJP’s Parvesh Singh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit— both sons of former of chief ministers. In 2020, Kejriwal had won the New Delhi seat with a 21,687-vote lead.

Kalkaji: Atishi Vs Alka Lamba Vs Ramesh Bidhuri

Delhi's Kalkaji constituency is another important battle in this election, as AAP leader and Chief Minister Atishi is up against Congress' firebrand leader Alka Lamba and BJP’s former MP Ramesh Bidhuri. In the 2020 elections, Atishi won the seat against BJP's Dharambir Singh by a margin of 11,393 votes.

Jangpura: Manish Sisodia Vs Sardar Tarvinder Singh Marwah Vs Farhad Suri

AAP's Manish Sisodia, who was earlier the deputy CM, is making his debut from the Jangpura constituency, that was previously won by AAP candidate Praveen Kumar in 2015 and 2020. Sisodia is all set to face off against BJP's  Sardar Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress' Farhad Suri.

Malviya Nagar: Somnath Bharti Vs Satish Upadhyay Vs Jitendra Kumar Kochar

Delhi's Malviya Nagar is another key constituency that has been dominated by AAP veteran Somnath Bharti. Bharti, who has held the seat since last three elections, is pitted against BJP’s Satish Upadhyay and Congress’ Jitendra Kumar Kochar.

Chhatarpur: Brahm Singh Tanwar Vs Kartar Singh Tanwar Vs Rajender Singh Tanwar

Delhi's Chhatarpur assembly constituency sees a 'battle of Tanwars', as the AAP has fielded Brahm Singh Tanwar against the BJP's Kartar Singh Tanwar, and Congress’ Rajender Singh Tanwar. In the 2020 assembly elections, the seat was won by Kartar Singh Tanwar on the AAP ticket, but he switched to the BJP last year and is now contesting as its candidate.

Patparganj: Avadh Ojha Vs Ravinder Singh Negi VS Anil Chaudhary

Patparganj is a seat to watch out as it has been represented since 2013 by Manish Sisodia, who is seen as the second-in-command in the AAP. However, he has been shifted to Jangpura assembly seat in this election.

Sisodia has been replaced with Avad Ojha, a well known UPSC tutor who is taking on BJP's Ravinder Singh Negi and Congress' Anil Chaudhary.

Ballimaran: Imran Hussain Vs Haroon Yusuf Vs Kamal Bagri

AAP has fielded incumbent minister Imran Hussain from Ballimaran assembly seat that falls under Chandni Chowk region. From the seat, where Muslim votes are seen as decisive, the Congress candidate is veteran leader Haroon Yusuf and the BJP has fielded Kamal Bagri.

Okhla: Amanatullah Khan Vs Braham Singh Vs Ariba Khan

AAP has fielded Amanatullah Khan, the incumbent MLA, for the third consecutive time from Okhla. He is pitted against BJP candidate Braham Singh and Congress' Ariba Khan.

Shakurbasti: Satyendar Jain Vs Karnail Singh Vs Satish Luthra

Delhi's Shakurbasti is also one of the seats in focus, as it is currently represented by former minister and AAP leader Satyendar Jain. He is again fielded as the candidate from the seat by the party. Meanwhile, the BJP issued the ticket to Karnail Singh— the chief of its Delhi Mandir Prakoshth or temple cell, and the Congress' candidate is Satish Luthra.

Rohini: Vijender Gupta Vs Pradeep Mittal Vs Sumesh Gupta

BJP's Vijender Gupta is eyeing a hat-trick of wins from Rohini, where he is being challenged by the AAP's Pradeep Mittal and Congress' Sumesh Gupta. In the 2020 Delhi polls, Vijender Gupta had won the seat by a margin of over 12,000 votes.
