
The NSE Nifty Infrastructure Index has posted losses in the month of August in nine of the last ten years. The index has fallen in each of the last seven Augusts, and the cuts were deepest in 2011, 2013 and 2015 when it fell over eight percent each.
The index has also consistently underperformed the NSE Nifty 50 Index in the month of August. The infrastructure gauge declined by an average of 3.8 percent in the last decade, compared to the average 1.4 percent decline of the Nifty.
