Errol Musk, father of the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, arrived in India on Sunday for his first-ever trip to the country. The 78-year-old South African engineer-turned-entrepreneur’s unusual visit will be marked by a series for key meetings related to India’s green energy sector.
The seasoned entrepreneur was recently appointed to the Global Advisory Board of NSE-listed Servotech Power Systems. The small-cap company focuses on EV charging and solar solutions. Musk’s maiden visit to India has drawn attention in both business and government circles.
During his week-long trip, Musk will likely be touring Servotech’s manufacturing unit, meet key cabinet ministries, and engaging with India’s top technocrats.
Who Is Errol Musk?
The South African businessman was born in 1946 and has five children, including billionaire Elon Musk. He was married to Maye Musk from 1970 to 1979 and describes his relationship with Elon as "complex".
Errol holds an engineering degree and has a background in electromechanics and expertise in energy projects in South Africa. He has experience in infrastructure, automotive retail and mining. At Servotech Power Systems, he is expected to bring his extensive experience in energy projects to support the company’s growth.
His past endeavours include leading major infrastructure and property projects and serving on Pretoria’s City Council in South Africa. This event marked his time as a politician when he was a member of the former South African political party, Progressive Federal Party.
On May 5, Servotech Power Systems announced Errol Musk’s appointment to its Global Advisory Board. As part of his role, Musk will tour the company’s manufacturing units in India, join roundtable sessions with government and investors, among other things. He will also promote the brand on social media and explore India’s cultural heritage with planned visits to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, according to a press release shared by the company.
Notably, Maye Musk visited Mumbai in April to launch the Hindi edition of her memoir at the glitzy NMACC gala.
