The Bloomberg View CEO Challenge Is Down to Two

(Bloomberg View) -- Hold your head high, Howard Schultz. Fans of solid leadership, good governance and an inspiring corporate culture were rooting you on, knowing that your time as the chief executive of Starbucks was coming to an end. But since taking over for Steve Jobs six years ago, Tim Cook had done an amazing job stepping into the biggest shoes in business, taking some of the rough edges off Apple's culture, all while introducing elegant products that consumers the world over still lust after. Plus, those eye-popping profits that are just not to be believed.

With shows like "Fauda," "Narcos," "The Crown," and "Master of None" -- and headed inexorably towards 100 million subscribers -- Netflix under Reed Hastings is clicking on all cylinders. But at Amazon, Jeff Bezos has a streaming video service every bit as impressive that he runs out of his back pocket. Plus he dominated Internet retail. Plus he is selling Kindles and Alexas like hotcakes. Hope to see you back in next year's tournament, Mr. Hastings.
