OpenAI CEO Sam Altman wrote an emotional post following a terrifying security breach at his luxury San Francisco residence, where a suspect allegedly hurled a Molotov cocktail at the property, raising concerns about the safety of his family.

Taking to his personal blog, Altman shared a rare glimpse into his private life and expressed his thoughts on the "shaken" state of his household.

In a chilling escalation of threats against tech leadership, the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) has confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old man following a dual-pronged attack targeting both the residence and the office of Altman.

Reflecting on the motivations behind the 20-year-old suspect's alleged attack attempt, Altman wrote a cautionary note. He suggested that the rising "great anxiety" surrounding artificial intelligence may have played a role in the incident.

Altman shared a photograph of his husband and child on his blog shared on X, writing, “I wrote this early this morning and I wasn't sure if I would actually publish it, but here it is. Here is a photo of my family. I love them more than anything.”

The blog post reads, “Images have power, I hope. Normally we try to be pretty private, but in this case I am sharing a photo in the hopes that it might dissuade the next person from throwing a Molotov cocktail at our house, no matter what they think about me."

“The first person did it last night, at 3:45 am. Thankfully it bounced off the house and no one got hurt.”

He shared his thoughts about an article mentioning 'AI anxiety', “Words have power too. There was an incendiary article about me a few days ago. Someone said to me yesterday they thought it was coming at a time of great anxiety about AI and that it made things more dangerous for me. I brushed it aside."

“Now I am awake in the middle of the night and angry, and thinking that I have underestimated the power of words and narratives.”
