Salman Khan's Kick Maintains Box-Office Momentum
Salman Khan-starrer Kick continued its strong run at the box office, collecting nearly Rs 20 crore on Wednesday, its sixth day of release.
Terming Kick's box-office success "phenomenal", trade analyst Taran Adarsh in a tweet said Kick collected Rs 21.66 crore on Wednesday, taking its 6-day total to Rs 148.66 crore.
This brings Kick's total domestic box-office collection closer to the Rs 150 crore mark, making it the biggest grosser of the year. The other Rs 100 crore grossers of 2014 so far have been Jai Ho, 2 States, Holiday and Ek Villain, he said in a tweet.
Kick has also performed strongly at overseas box office. Mr Adarsh in a separate tweet said Kick's grossed over Rs 33 crore from overseas markets, with strong performance seen in UAE and the UK.
Kick's success makes Salman Khan the first Bollywood actor to have seven Rs 100 crore movies to his credit: Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Bodyguard, Dabangg, Ready, and Jai Ho, said Mr Adarsh in a tweet.
Also, starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Kick was released across 5,000 screens in India and as well as 42 other countries.
Kick also marks the directorial debut of Sajid Nadiadwala. Kick is a remake of the hit 2009 Telegu film of the same name and the screenplay for the Hindi version was adapted by Chetan Bhagat and Sajid Nadiadwala, who's also the director-producer of the movie. The film has been released under the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner. (With Agency Inputs)
