Salman Khan's Eid offering Sultan grossed Rs 36.5 crore on the first day of its release, Yash Raj Films told BloombergQuint.

The total budget of the film was Rs 90 crore including cost of production at Rs 70 crore and prints and advertising at Rs 20 crore, Yash Raj Films said. The movie has been released in 5,430 screens world-wide including 4,350 screens across India and 1,100 screens overseas.

Sultan is the seventh Salman-starrer to release on Eid.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has proved its supremacy at the box office with the “mind-boggling” business on day one. Adarsh has predicted a “historic” five-day weekend for the film.
