Reliance Jio reported a net loss of Rs 22.5 crore for the six months ending March 31, 2017 on Monday, up from Rs 7.46 crore reported in the corresponding period of last fiscal.
The new entrant in the telecom sector said it received no revenues from its operation during the last six months of fiscal year 2016-17 but its other incomes stood at Rs 0.54 crore, down from Rs 2.23 crore in the year-ago period.
Total expenses of Reliance Jio increased to Rs 34.88 crore in that period compared to Rs 13.63 crore last year.
Jio's loss before taxes increased to Rs 34.34 crore as against Rs 11.38 crore last year. With deferred taxes of Rs 11.84 crore, Reliance Jio's net fell to Rs 22.5 crore loss.
For the entire fiscal 2016-17, the telecom venture reported a loss of Rs 31.37 crore compared to a net loss of Rs 15.71 crore in FY2016.
