Ola has announced its new 30-day Ola pass for its drivers via its social media page. The pass facilitates drivers to pay zero commission to the cab company on every fare they undertake after purchase.

Drivers availing this feature will have to pay the company Rs 67 a day for 30 days, Ola said. This totals to Rs 2,010 for a month.

There are no limits on the fare that drivers can claim zero commission with the pass nor are there any restrictions stipulated by the company on the choice of vehicle when claiming the entirety of their fare, as per reports. The feature is seemingly live for Ola Autos, Ola Bikes and Ola Cabs.

"“The launch of 0% commission model pan India marks a fundamental shift in the ride-hailing businesses. Removing commissions empowers driver partners with much more ownership and opportunity," the Bhavish Aggarwal-led company said in a statement.

"They are the backbone of the mobility ecosystem and giving them complete control of their earnings will help in creating a more resilient and sustainable ride-hailing network across the country," it added.

Ola follows suit from a software-as-service based business model that has already been adopted by companies like Rapido, where drivers pay a subscription fee in order to retain 100% of their earnings.

Rapido auto drivers pay from Rs 9 to Rs 29 a day depending on which city they are in, irrespective of how many rides they give per day. But they do still have to pay Rs 500 as subscription fee if they make more than Rs 10,000 a month.
