L&T Promotes Subramanian Sarma To President And Deputy Managing Director
The appointment will come into effect from April 2.
Larsen & Toubro Ltd. has announced the elevation of Subramanian Sarma from wholetime director & president, energy, to deputy managing director and president of the company, effective April 2.
The Board has also approved an extension of his term until Feb. 3, 2028, subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming annual general meeting.

L&T’s Chairman & Managing Director, SN Subrahmanyan, noted Sarma’s contributions to the company’s hydrocarbon and energy businesses, emphasising his role in driving innovation, operational excellence, and global competitiveness.
“His elevation is well deserved, and I am confident that his leadership will further strengthen L&T’s growth trajectory,” Subrahmanyan said.
Sarma is a graduate in chemical engineering and completed his master’s from IIT Mumbai. He joined L&T’s board as a non-executive director on Aug. 19, 2015. Before L&T, he served as the managing director of Petrofac – Onshore Engineering & Construction, overseeing all of the company’s onshore projects worldwide.
Under his leadership, L&T’s energy portfolio has become a top global EPC contractor, consistently ranking among the top three in the Middle East’s oil & gas sector, the release said.
On the occasion, Sarma said, “I am honoured to take on this new role at a time when L&T is witnessing strong growth and expansion. I thank the CMD and L&T’s board members for their trust and look forward to contributing to the company’s long-term vision.”
Additionally, the board has approved the re-appointment of SV Desai as Whole-time Director from July 11, 2025, to July 4, 2030. He began his career with the company in 1997 as a construction manager and later contributed as Head of Procurement & Contracts in L&T's Delhi International Airport Project.
T Madhava Das as Whole-time Director for a five-year term starting July 11, 2025. He is on the boards of L&T Oman LLC, L&T Saudi Arabia LLC and PT Larsen & Toubro, Indonesia.
