LPG or cooking gas prices were reduced with effect from Thursday, August 1. The reduction in the non-subsidised prices of LPG cylinders of 14.2 kilograms was to the tune of Rs 61.5-62.5 per unit in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai, according to Indian Oil Corporation. With this price revision, the price of non-subsidised LPG in the national capital has been lowered by Rs 163.00 per cylinder in two months. From today, the consumer will pay Rs 574.50 for every cylinder (14.2 KG) of non-subsidised LPG, as against Rs 637.00 in July, according to a statement by Indian Oil Corporation, which supplies the cooking gas under brand Indane.

Currently, the government subsidises 12 cylinders of 14.2 kilograms each per household in a year. For any additional purchases, the consumer has to bear the market price.
