Kenyan President Approves $723 Million in Supplementary Budget

(Bloomberg) --

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta signed a supplementary budget, enabling the release of 73.4 billion shillings ($723 million) to fund government services and projects for the period through June.

The National Treasury last month asked lawmakers to increase the 2019-20 spending plans by almost 3% to 3.13 trillion shillings even when revenue is below target. Treasury wants to continue funding projects including improving manufacturing, housing, health care and farming to boost economic growth.
