The due date of filing of Income Tax Return (ITR) has been extended from July 31 to August 31, the government said on Tuesday. The original due date for assessees - including salaried taxpayers and entities not required to get their accounts audited - to file their income tax returns for financial year 2018-19 (assessment year 2019-20) was July 31, 2019. With the extension announced on Tuesday, such assessees will now be able to file their income tax returns by August 31.
