IndiGo Retains Over 80% On-Time Performance For Second Straight Month

India's largest airline in terms of market share and fleet size IndiGo, retained over 80% on-time performance in the month of March. As per the data shared by Directorate General of Civil Aviation, IndiGo's OTP for March was recorded at 88.7%.

In the month of December 2025, IndiGo faced a major operational meltdown. The airline had to cancel over 4,500 flights which impacted over 10 lakh passengers. As per the airline, the cancellations were due to its inability to comply with the new flight-duty-time-limitation norms. In the month of December 2025, Indigo's OTP dipped to 62.7%, from 69% in November 2025.

However, as the airline was given time to comply with the new norms, IndiGo's OTP in January 2026 recovered to 70.9%. In February 2026, the airline's OTP improved to 80.1%, rising sharply by almost 10%. Till March 28, the government had also ordered the alrine to cut 10% or 200 of it's daily flights. Moreover, until October 2025, IndiGo consistently retained OTP over 80%.

On the other hand, IndiGo, since the beginning of this year, has also been able to hold a consistent market share of over 63%. In January 2026, IndiGo's market share was 63.6% and it carried 97.04 lakh passengers. In February, the airline's market share was 63.1% and it carried 88.71 lakh passengers. In March, IndiGo carried 91.19 lakh passengers, and held a market share of 63.3%.

As per the latest DGCA data for the first three months of 2026, IndiGo remains to be the largest airline with 63.6% market share, and in this period the airline has carried over 2.76 crore passengers. Followed by Air India Group with 26.5% market share, and during this period the group carried 1.16 crore passengers. Akasa Air, during the same period, held a market share of 5% and carried 21.97 lakh passengers. SpiceJet on the other hand, held a market share of just 3.9% and carried 16.87 lakh passengers.
