IndiGo on Tuesday launched its first international flight from Vijayawada jointly with the Andhra Pradesh government, the airline said in a press release. IndiGo said it would operate two weekly non-stop services between Vijayawada and Singapore. The carrier further said customers would be able to avail the new flight services by booking tickets via its portal - goindigo.in. The addition of Vijayawada to the airline's international network comes amid high competition in the country's aviation sector, backed by robust growth in passenger traffic over past few months.

IndiGo last month announced addition of Bhopal and Jabalpur to its network as its 65th and 66th destinations respectively. The airline also said it would operate daily non-stop flights between Bhopal and Hyderabad, and between Jabalpur and Hyderabad with effect from January 5, 2019, at a starting all-inclusive price of Rs 1,999.
IndiGo also introduced non-stop flights between Allahabad and Bengaluru. With this new connectivity, the Allahabad-Bengaluru route became the sixth RCS (Regional Connectivity Scheme) route on IndiGo's network. UDAN aims at making air travel affordable for the common man. The carrier would also operate a daily non-stop flight between Hong Kong and Bangalore, with effect from December 11, 2018.
IndiGo currently has a fleet of 198 Airbus A320 aircraft including 12 ATR aircraft, according to the press release.
Domestic airlines carried 1,146.4 lakh passengers in the first ten months of calendar year 2018, as against 954.45 lakh in the corresponding period a year ago, marking a growth of over 20 per cent, according to data from aviation regulator DGCA or Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
