India An 'Under-Performer', Over 8% Growth 'Doable': Arvind Subramanian
Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian has said over 8% growth is "doable" in 10 years.

New Delhi: Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian on Monday said that India was an under-performer given its level of political institutions, adding that an over eight per cent economic growth was easily doable for the country in the medium term.

"India is an under-performer given the level of its political institutions. The level of political institutions it has compared to other countries, it should support a higher growth," Mr Subramanian said at a book discussion on 'India's Long Roads - The Search For Prosperity' by author Vijay Joshi.

"Provided a cooperative international market, 8 and over 8 per cent over next 10 years is doable," Mr Subramanian added.
