Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) Ltd., through its joint venture with Russia's MMS, has won a Rs 2,523 crore contract from the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRCL), the company said in a Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) filing.
The contract is for the construction of a 4,027 metre corridor of Mumbai's first underground metro line, with stations including Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Grant Road, Kalbadevi and Girgaon. The infrastructure company will also construct 3,115 metre long twin bored tunnels.
This project is a part of the Line 3 Mumbai Metro connecting Colaba to Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ). The project is to be completed within 55 months, HCC said in the press release. Once completed, it will have 26 underground and one at-grade station.
HCC has been previously associated with construction of the Delhi and Kolkata Metro.
Shares of HCC jumped over 6 percent to Rs 22.25 at 1:20 pm on BSE.
