Entertainment Faces Competition from Singham Returns at Box Office
Akshay Kumar's slapstick comedy Entertainment remained steady at the domestic box office. On Wednesday, Entertainment collected over Rs 4 crore, taking its total India business to nearly Rs 53 crore, trade analyst Taran Adarsh said in a tweet.
In overseas markets, Entertainment collected around Rs 8.5 crore in opening weekend, Mr Adarsh had earlier said in a separate tweet.
Entertainment is likely to get a boost from the long weekend ahead but it is likely to face big competition from Ajay Devgn's Singham Returns, which hits the screen this week.
Directed by debutant duo Sajid-Farhad, the movie also features Tamannaah Bhatia, Sonu Sood and Johnny Lever. It is named after a Golden Retriever who plays an important character in the film.
Entertainment is co-produced by Ramesh S. Taurani of Tips Industries Ltd and Jayantilal Gada.
Entertainment was released across 2800-plus screens in India and over 400 screens overseas, Mr Adarsh added.
The expectations from Entertainment are high given that Akshay Kumar's previous release Holiday grossed over Rs 100 crore. (With Agency Inputs)
